First of all, I have to thank James Cameron. It was his blockbuster film that first sparked my interest in the Titanic. I also want to thank the multitude of researchers and authors whose books have allowed me to indulge in my new obsession. From Jack Winotour, Walter Lord via Geoffrey Marcus and Steven Biel to Tad Fitch, J. Kent Layton & Bill Wormstedt, to name but a few. Similarly to all those people who contribute to the Encyclopedia Titanica and so many other online sources.
A big thank you also goes to all the authors and scriptwriters who included fictional officers in their story. Even if I nitpick about the historical accuracy of their work, I am very grateful to them. Without these stories, this webpage would not exist.
There are a number of people to whom I owe particularly large ‘thank you’s: Inger Sheil with whom I spent many, many happy hours watching Titanic films and discussing everything Titanic-related. Susanne Störmer, with whom I discussed many things, particularly the phenomenon of the fictional German officer on the Titanic. Last but not least, Dan Parkes, who encouraged me to revive this webpage.
I also want to thank my family and friends who not only listened to me holding forth about the Titanic but discussed various aspects of the disaster with me. In particular, once again, Alex Service, whose access to the library in Bloomington allowed me to read my first books about the Titanic at just the right time. Also particular thanks Kirsty Hartsiotis, Michael Gaunt, Matt Cuttler, and Bille Zipperer.

And there were the dress-up parties. Of course.
